Semi-trucks and the distance needed to stop

It has happened to most of us. We are on the Interstate and get wedged between two semi-trucks. This can be frightening, as it becomes apparent just how helpless our cars and SUVs would be when struck by a massive 18-wheeler. While this is certainly true, and many Illinois residents find themselves seriously harmed in these wrecks, it is not only the semi-trucks in front of and beside us that we have to worry about. In fact, the big rigs behind us can be just as dangerous, if not more so, than those we can see in front of us.

We stand up for those affected by wrongful death

A few weeks ago on the blog we discussed the statutory limitations related to wrongful death lawsuits. It is critical for those who have suffered the loss of a loved one to think about their legal options shortly after the tragic incident to avoid losing out on compensation that could help cover significant economic and noneconomic losses such as medical and funeral expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and loss of consortium.

Did you know that IL has a Move Over Law?

According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, protecting the safety of those who respond to roadside emergencies to help accident victims is important, if not essential. In fact, our Illinois motorists have likely seen first responders attending to the needs of accident victims on the roadways and highways. Sadly, NHTSA notes that first responders can get injured while helping others because other motorists may not be aware of what to do when they see an emergency vehicle standing on the side of the road with its lights on.
