Drunk driver injures 2 after slamming into rear of another car

We've been driving cars in this country for more than 100 years, and during that time we've made some truly amazing strides in the automotive industry. We went from crankshaft vehicles to self driving cars; from no airbags to airbags everywhere; and from blind spots galore to rearview cameras. Relatively speaking, it really didn't take that long for us to go from our first automobile to futuristic super cars.

However, during this century of motor vehicle advancement, one thing hasn't changed: there are still drunk drivers today, just as there were 30 years ago, and 30 years before that. It's an incredibly negligent decision to make, one that you would think people would have disregarded long ago. And yet, here we are, still talking about drunk driving accidents.

Yet another DUI accident recently occurred south of Aurora, Illinois. A 27-year-old was apparently speeding while intoxicated, and crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The 27-year-old and the driver of the other vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital for their injuries.

The 27-year-old was arrested on a number of charges, including the two obvious charges (DUI and speeding). He was also found to be in possession of cannabis.

Even as our technology improves and our cars become safer, we can't stop people from making stupid decisions. However, when people make these poor decisions that end up hurting people, they can be held liable for their irresponsible behavior in civil court. After all of these years, the legal system can still help victims of negligence obtain the justice they deserve.
